AN Exmouth woman who was cared for by Hospiscare has been remembered during an emotional 200-mile bike ride in aid of the charity.

Former Crusty Cob Bakery worker Susan Wilson, who was cared for at the Exeter hospice before she died in 2008, was the focus of her two nieces' efforts - Zoe and Kirsty Wilson and family friend, Kate Downton - who pedalled from London to Exeter in three days.

The trio have already raised 1,800 from their cycle ride, which began in Clapham and ended at Hospiscare's Exeter hospice.

The late Susan Wilson's husband, David, was part of the riders' support crew during their mammoth challenge.

Niece Zoe Wilson said: "It was one of the most difficult things any of us have ever done but we talked about Sue all the way through and thinking of her got us through the difficult times.

"It felt incredible to reach the hospice at the end and I think we might even be planning to do it again next year."

The Crusty Cob raised almost 300 for the event through its three Exmouth shops.
