THIEVES have stolen a banner advertising a cancer fundraiser concert in which the Lympstone SW Telecoms Brass Band and the Exmouth Choral Society are performing.

The ten-foot long banner advertising the Classics Galore concert to be held at Exeter University's Great Hall on Saturday November 14, was stolen from outside the FORCE cancer charity centre in Barrack Road in Exeter.

The thieves stole the banner from outside the very centre the concert is being held - all revenue raised will be donated to the cancer charity.

Classics Galore is the brainchild of concert director Dick Passmore currently undergoing specialist treatment for cancer.

He said: "I simply cannot believe that anyone with even the smallest modicum of intelligence would steal a banner which is promoting a concert in aid of cancer patients and their families.

"Whoever stole the banner must have no conscience whatsoever and the act is yet another sad reflection on the society in which we live."

Classics Galore is an evening of virtually non-stop popular classical music and song performed by the Exeter Symphony Orchestra, the Lympstone SW Telecoms Brass Band, the Exmouth Choral Society and the Ottery Choral Society.
