The two faces of
our society
On Sunday, May 23, I went to the
council tip in exmouth to dispose
of garden refuse. My wallet must
have slipped out of my pocket
without my knowledge.
A little while later, a gentleman
appeared at my front door with
wallet in hand, saying he'd found
it and where. I was so surprised
that I didn't even ask his name. If
he could send me an email I'd like
to thank him (malcookcook@btinternet.
com).
Later that day, we were having
lunch outside and heard a crunch
of a car hitting another. We looked
over the fence and a lady asked us
if the red car was ours. It was not
- we assumed she'd put her details
on the damaged car, but she did
not.
She drove away, no doubt leaving
the owner to return to find a badly
damaged car. Perhaps the lady
who did the damage would like to
make herself known to the injured
party.
Two examples of the world in
which we live - the utterly generous,
and the particularly mean...
