A pirates and unicorns themed birthday party has marked the 1,000th celebration organised by an award-winning Exmouth business.

The Party Wiz was founded by Mother of two, Lauren Robinson, four years ago after her own frustration struggling to find affordable, friendly and reliable party suppliers for her children’s birthdays.

Lauren, of St John’s Road, aims to provide a ‘one stop shop’, covering all aspects of party organisation and willing to take on any theme. Going from strength to strength and winning a local award, the business is now celebrating hosting its 1,000th party by launching a series of fun and educational after-school sessions.

Lauren said: “I’m so proud of how far we have come in just four years. I never thought I would get to this point. I do love and enjoy it and feel I am getting better at it all the time.

“As we reach this milestone, I feel the perfect way to celebrate our success is to roll out ‘Wiz Kids’, a selection of super-duper after school clubs for children to enjoy and get a taste of a Party Wiz party!”

Wiz Kids aims to provide exciting children’s activities, based on core-subject after school activities clubs. Some of the sessions on offer will include Crazy Cooks, Perfect Performers, Slime Science and Amazing Artists.

The 1000th party was a birthday celebration for six year-old Rufus, who chose the unusual theme of pirates and unicorns.

Lauren said: “We came dressed in character as a unicorn and a pirate and did a treasure hunt; all our games were themed as much as possible. It was a really nice bunch of children and we really had a good time, it was fun.

“We do lots of face painting and we do get lots of funny requests, like there was a request for Big Foot last week!”

On what she enjoys most about her job, Lauren said: “It’s the variety and just seeing the kids having a really good time and the fact that I’m a part of it.”

Lauren took home the Young Entrepreneur award at the 2017 Exmouth Business Awards and The Party Wiz is currently in the running for the national ‘What’s On 4 Kids’ award.

As well as themed parties, the organisation offers a range of other services, including princess parties and soft play hire and ‘extras’ such as party bags.
