The owner of World of Country Life, Nigel Lee, has sponsored the flowers in the display vessel; the boat
has been named Jaunty Jean, in Jean Mears’s honour, and a gold plaque commissioned.

Debbie Butler, at World of Country Life, said: “Jeanie was instrumental in many things in Littleham, not least the Littleham in Bloom flower beds and the boat in Westdown Lane.”

She added: “Jean worked at World of Country Life for many years and even in her later years often popped up on her beloved scooter to check on her hanging baskets and to make sure all the staff were well, and happy.

“She was a real character and we all loved her.”

A Littleham in Bloom spokesperson said: “We are thrilled to have Jaunty Jean in our midst.

“Jean was a founder member when Littleham in Bloom was set up in November 2006.

“She was an incredibly enthusiastic and hard working member of the group, whether it was tackling some of our
earlier planting projects around the village or fundraising.
