I write in support of Rob Longhurst's call for the leader of EDDC to resign. East Devon needs a change of leadership and fast. EDDC's recent challenge of the Boundary Committee's recommendations regarding a Devon unitary authority was ill-advised. In addition, the timing was naively flawed. So the accountability for such a weak strategy has to lie with the leadership that executed it.Senior members of EDDC should focus on East Devon's future in a coherent manner at a time when strong, well-considered leadership is essential. In fact, it is high time that one of the Exmouth councillors became the leader of EDDC. So I hope members of the controlling group at EDDC have the guts to sort this mess out now. They can start by appointing a new leader. We can ill afford to be wasting council taxpayers' money in such a poorly conceived strategy when around us local businesses are going to the wall. The rot must stop. We need strong principled leadership, not mystifying strategies that cost us a fortune.Ben Ingham,Independent Member for Woodbury-Lympstone (EDDC)
