THE noise from roof-top air conditioners at the new Tesco Express store in Rolle Street could be disturbing residents.

According to the town council planning agenda, a letter has been sent to Tesco by district planning enforcers over the stores roof-mounted condenser unit and three air conditioning units.

The letter follows a complaint to the council that the units were not put in the right place.

The agenda says: "There is concern that the impact of the plant equipment on the local amenity has not been correctly assessed and as this is now operational, a second Noise Impact Report is now required.

"If the conditioning units are audible and/or are deemed to have an adverse impact on the occupiers of the adjacent flat then it may be necessary for Tesco to take action to isolate the units and acoustically house them.
