Teen duo cash feat

TWO 14-year-old Exmouth Community College pupils have turned to pedal power to raise more than £300 for cancer charity Force.Daisy O'Loughlin, of Clarence Road, Exmouth, and friend Daniel Godfrey, of Gilbrook, Woodbury, took under six hours to cycle 55-miles on a tandem in the Force Century Cycle Challenge.The cycling duo were two of the youngest competitors among 600 entrants taking part in the challenge - formerly known as the Nello Ride - which on Sunday set off from Topsham.Daniel's proud mum Donna Godfrey, 42, said sponsorship was still pouring in for the two classmates who had never before ridden a tandem. She said the pair negotiated a number busy and steep roads on a route they had never travelled before, using an abbreviated map."When I saw them coming up St David's Hill in Exeter it brought a lump to my throat," said mother-of-two Donna. "As they were going down the hill I heard Daisy say 'stand up for a bottom rest'. Their poor bottoms must have been numb!"They both like to do things like this. Dan always says 'I am going to do it, so I might as well raise some money'."I am really proud of them. I couldn't even cycle five miles!"The friends' next challenge is to take part in a triathlon.
