Tea and Tittle Tattle, in Fore Street, Budleigh Salterton, has been named the best coffee and/or tea room in the West by Taste of the West.

A Budleigh couple are ‘over the moon’ after their vintage tea shop was declared the best in the west.

Tea and Tittle Tattle, in Fore Street, was named the best café and/or tea shop at the Taste of the West finals held earlier this month.

This is the first time Budleigh’s vintage tea shop has been named the best in the South West after six straight years of receiving a gold award.

Gareth Radley, who runs the business with wife Denise, said it was their vintage afternoon tea that wowed the judges.

He said: “It was our vintage afternoon tea that the Taste of the West judges had when they visited in secret earlier in the year.

“Although they had booked a table, we had no idea they were judges until they told us when they came to pay.

“We are really proud to have won this award and are very grateful to our staff for all their hard work, our local suppliers and our customers for their continued support.”
