Suspect found inside wheelie bin

Following an alleged assault on a woman in Exmouth, police arrested a man found inside a wheelie bin – with the help of a police dog.

Following an alleged assault on a woman in Exmouth, police arrested a man found inside a wheelie bin - with the help of a police dog.

Police launched a search after a 22-year-old woman complained a man had assaulted her on Exeter Road and run off.

She had suffered minor injuries.

A police dog joined the hunt and led officers to the end of a narrow lane in Salisbury Road - and to the metal wheelie bin.

A 36-year-old man found inside the bin was arrested on suspicion of assault, said police.

He was taken to Heavitree Road Police, Station, Exeter, and later released on bail until December 9.
