A TOP surgeon will be discussing the healing powers of plants in an event being held by Exmouth Garden Club next Tuesday.
A TOP surgeon will be discussing the healing powers of plants in an event being held by Exmouth Garden Club next Tuesday.
The Club has invited Dr Gavin Haig, surgeon, Doctor, and naturalist to talk about 'The Healing Garden'.
Dr Haig has studied the healing properties of many native plants with much of this work has carried out in his own garden, 'Spillfords' on the River Exe.
His home, which has been featured on TV, has a great variety of habitats and even provides a home for the rarest butterflies in Europe - the Marsh Fritillary.
Lynne Gittins of the club said: "The garden and contains a wealth of ideas which Doctor Haig will be sharing with us.
"From earliest times plants have been used for their medicinal properties, and their beauty has also contributed to our sense of wellbeing.
"To many people, the scent of a rose, of lavender, or the tranquillity of a summer garden brings a healing space into our hectic lives. We may not have huge gardens, but we can all introduce some of his ideas to enrich our own private spaces."
The talk takes place Tuesday February 23 at 7.30 pm, at All Saints Hall, Exeter Road, and Exmouth.
All are welcome, members free, visitors �2. There are free refreshments.
