I READ your article last week regarding the Longboat Cafe plans.Quite frankly, what are they thinking? I have in my possesion photographs of the seafront after the 1987 storms, showing pebbles strewn across the road. A glass-fronted cafe/resurant of any kind is just plain stupid. I no longer live in the town, but agree with the campaign by Mr Daniel to oppose the change. The Longboat Cafe is an integral part of the seafront. Budleigh Salterton is unique - in every good way. Yes, it does have its problems, but no more than any other seaside town. The proposals to demolish the shelter, too, will inconvenience many. T Perry,3 Woodview, Clevedon.
