I would like to thank Mr Kevin Curran for providing details of the planning reference for the Longboat Cafe proposals. I, for one, will be writing in support of the proposed development. It's a fantastic plan and in line with the cliff and existing buildings so it will not impact on residents' outlook. I am fed up with Budleigh Salterton being the butt of national debate at its lack of family welcoming restaurants that can offer shelter from the inclement summer weather. Terry Wogan, The Telegraph and The Times have all mentioned the lack of eating facilities and the spurning of children under the age of 11. It is about time some of the more mature residents of Budleigh accepted there is a large proportion of families in Budleigh who need facilities. The Longboat proposal is a great solution for allIt has been reported that those with seasonal businesses have suffered a great deal this summer. By changing the Longboat Cafe, the present owners will not be affected by bad weather. So all those in favour, please do not just sit back - write to the council, voicing your support for the development, to the following address: East Devon District Council, Planning Department, Knowle, Sidmouth - reference number New08/2537.
