That coffee jar, tea or sugar on the shelf in your office, club or home - why isn't it helping to secure a decent future for the actual producers? It could, if you bought stuff with the Fairtrade logo.

Why go along with unfair trade when you could do something to help at a tiny extra cost (and in many cases no extra cost at all)? And every purchase gets Exmouth nearer the status of 'Fairtrade Town', joining the 400-plus UK towns where Fairtrade is becoming normal.

The town council, several retailers and cafes, as well as churches, are in support of this goal. Check this out at www.exmouthfairtrade.org.uk. Becoming a 'Fairtrade Town' is part of being a good place to live and work.

Peter Brain,

Secretary of the Fairtrade Town steering group.
