DO YOU have problems accessing public transport?

You may qualify to use the Ring and Ride service, or the Budleigh Community Bus.

A brand new replacement bus has just been launched through donations to replace the Budleigh Bus. A new Mercedes sprint has been fitted to the specifications of its customers. Jill Elson, chairman of the Exmouth and District Community Transport Group (EDCTG), said: "We asked our customers what they felt they needed from the service and so we have purchased the bus via great donations and fund raising and have the widest bus we could get along with a hydraulic lift at the rear and soft seating."

The Community Bus service is for anyone unable to use public transport for example people of any age with temporary or permanent mobility problems, the elderly, disabled, lone parents and young people especially from rural areas, special social clubs, education/training, shopping and youth activities in the local towns. You can even bring a friend or relative to assist you if required.

They provide Wednesday excursions, to Exeter and Newton Abbot, and travel to Sidmouth every other Wednesday.

Pub lunches and outings are arranged for passengers who use the regular service timetable.

The charity runs two tail-lift minibuses - the Ring and Ride service is funded by a school contract, Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, and town and parish councils.

The Budleigh Community Bus is funded by local charitable donations in addition to any funds they can raise.

They are a registered charity, which provides a much needed and used transport service to enable people to maintain their independence. The services cost in excess of £100,000 per annum with £12,000 income from fares. All this money has to be raised annually to ensure these great services continue.

l Eligible groups may use the bus for private trips

l They welcome donations to keep the services running. Gift aid forms are available from
