Exmouth Sun Lodge's Masonic Charity Association continues to support the local community throughout the pandemic.

Sun Lodge members through its charity association have supported the local community for more than 30 years. In the last 15 years it has donated nearly £43,000 to around 55 organisations and charities in the Exmouth area.

Sun Lodge members have been unable to meet since last March because of the Covid-19 pandemic but during 2020 have donated £3'625 to 11 organisations and charities.

Early in 2020, it joined with the other Exmouth Lodges and Chapters to donate to the Exmouth Town Council Beach Wheelchair Project.

The Freemasons of Exmouth also came together to respond to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital 'HelpUs HelpYou' Appeal with a donation to provide support to the staff during the pandemic.

Sun Lodge were also pleased to be able to support an Exmouth man and his family after he suffered life changing injuries.

The annual presentation evening normally held at the end of November was another victim of the pandemic, but Sun Lodge members made donations to Centre Stage, Exmouth Gateway Club, Open Door Exmouth, Exmouth & Lympstone Hospiscare (Hospiscare at Home), 299 (Exmouth) Squadron Air Training Corp, Exeter & East Devon Motor Neurone Disease Association, Exmouth Friends in Need and Devon Freewheelers.

Sun Lodge Masonic Charity Association Treasurer and Lodge Charity Steward, David Bassett said: “Sun Lodge has a long history of supporting the community and we wanted to continue that support throughout the pandemic.

"We are always impressed and humbled by how much local organisations and charities, particularly those working with young people, do to support our community.”
