THE memory of an Exmouth woman, who died in a car accident, will be honoured at a fundraiser hosted by her daughter.Samantha Dare, 19, has organised a fundraising memorial at Liverton Copse Community Association, Prince of Wales Drive, to raise money for a bench to commemorate her mother, Susan Dare.Mother of five Susan, of Hawthorne Grove, died after an alleged hit and run accident as she walked home with friends after a night out last month. The benefit, also organised by Cindy Worthington and Tammy James, friends of the mother, will include a barbeque - and is also a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, Susan's chosen charity.Samantha said: "We want to have a bench put up with a plaque and we chose cancer because she was very involved with the charity - my mum did the recent midnight walk and jumped out of an aeroplane."Tammy will be shaving off all her hair at the benefit to raise money for the charity. She said: "I'm doing it to raise money because it was her charity."She was a ray of sunshine and we want to carry on her memory because it was what she would have wanted."The organisers are hoping the day goes smoothly and that children, family and friends enjoy the memorial - which will include a bouncy castle, games and a disco.Chairman of the community association Alan Hill said: "She was a member of the club and was well known and loved."I think it's an excellent idea and it shows the support we feel for the woman."The organisers are hoping to continue the fundraiser next year as an annual event in memory of Susan Dare. The barbeque memorial is open to everyone. It will be held at the community centre, on Sunday, August 24, from 12pm. For more information call Samantha on 07890058695.
