STAFF at Stallcombe House hailed the success of a summer fayre and open day which took place last weekend.

Television personality and author Toby Young opened the fayre at Sanctuary Lane, Woodbury Salterton, last Saturday which featured an array of entertainment being held.

Music was provided by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue band as well as Morris dancing from the Sidmouth Steppers.

A Royal Marine armoured Viking vehicle attended; there was donkey rides, target golf, air rifle shooting, archery and prizes to be won.

Christine Jackman, deputy general manager said: "It was a great day - we had a big turnout.

"There was lots of support from local people."

Ms Jackman said it was pleasing to see that people went to see the new animals at Stallcombe which included Kune Kune pigs from New Zealand. More than �3000 was raised from the fayre and open day.
