A prize has been awarded to a top student who has excelled throughout the year at Exmouth Community College.

Molly Seymour, a year 11 student who has just finished her GCSEs, was presented with the Premier Cup for her academic efforts.

She received the cup at the college’s annual Premier Awards evening, which sees students recognised for academic effort, progress or some special quality. All those who win an award have their names put on the winners’ boards in the main hall for posterity.

Mr Tony Alexander, the college’s principal, praised the youngsters for their hard work throughout the year.

He said: “This is a landmark event each year and the citations given about the winners always make me immensely proud of the college and the staff and young people who work here.”

“The evening celebrates all aspects of education, including citizenship, support of others, behaviour, attitude, team work and much more. Of course, academic success is rewarded at an event like this, but the college is about giving all students the opportunity to succeed and develop their strengths.”

The deputy mayor and college governors were joined by 300 parents to see the college’s pupils given the prizes at the school.
