RAMPANT vandalism in Withycombe has led to residents, councillors and the police grouping together to find a solution to the problem. The first Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting was held this month where residents raised issues about the area such as the problems with vandalism on Drakes Avenue.Residents highlighted the problem Drakes Avenue has faced for years with properties being constantly vandalised.Councillor John Taylor said: "A lot of the blame seems to be going towards Tesco as it has a way in there and Tesco opens all night and is where young people buy alcohol."Some of the problems include ripping wing mirrors off the cars on Hamilton Lane."Berry Close, Hamilton Lane and Summer Lane also have problems with cars being constantly damaged.Councillor Brenda Taylor is in regular contact with the local police and police community support officers to help combat criminal damage in the area. The councillors and police have said they would like to continue holding the PACT meetings but say this might be impossible to do if more people don't step forward to help with the meetings.Cllr Brenda Taylor said: "We are looking to address these issues and I have been doing a lot of work by keeping up the Neighbourhood Watch but we need more people otherwise we won't be able to carry on holding these meetings."If you would like to help establish the PACT meetings in Withycombe contact Cllr Taylor on (01395)263805.l Dozens of cars were damaged on Berry Close and Summer Lane during the night on Wednesday, February 11.
