FLOWER power is transforming Lympstone station - thanks to the efforts of members of the village's garden club.
Villagers adopted the station last year in an effort to make the station more picturesque for commuters and rail users.
Viv Day of the Lympstone Garden Club Committee said: "The hanging baskets and containers on the platform itself are planted up and cared for by volunteers working in conjunction with the Lympstone Garden Club.
"An annual grant is given by First Great Western to help purchase plants, and the rest of the money for these is given as donations from villagers."
She praised volunteer Dawn Chapman, who has spent 'many hours' transforming the embankment with plants donated by Kings Garden Centre in Exmouth and generous villagers - who are now eagerly anticipating an attractive display in the summer.
The terracing of the embankment by railway sleepers has meant that small areas of flower bed are now available for volunteers to offer to care for she said.

* Last week's Journal on Page six stated that he scheme was wholly paid for by First Great Western. We would like to point out that money was also contributed by villagers and generous donors.
