I have just spent the morning in our town and on our wonderful seafront and one or two things have got my blood boiling - and that doesn't include the heat! After enjoying a marvellous two-week holiday in Turkey, I find some standards in Exmouth to be somewhat lacking. My partner, daughter and myself decided to stop for a bite to eat and a drink. What I was confronted with was overpriced, under-prepared food served in polystyrene containers, by staff who had either had a late night or needed to take classes in manners and etiquette. Add to this drinks that were meant to be made of ice but were more akin to a soup and you can see why we are less than impressed. The member of staff's explanation for the drinks not being of the correct consistency was because the weather was 'too hot'! This I found to be laughable, especially when I explained to the girl that we had just come back from temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius and we had not encountered any such problems. This was met with a blank look. Suffice to say that we will not be visiting this particular outlet again. Not a very good advertisement for Exmouth, I feel. Jon Watson,(via email).
