Residents from Stallcombe House, in Woodbury Salterton, were treated to an evening with firefighters from Sidmouth when the crews shared fire safety advice.

Retained firefighter Becky Harper, who works at Stallcombe House, in Woodbury Salterton, arranged the visit of two fire engines to promote community fire safety.

The residents watched demonstrations and were given the opportunity to operate the fire hose.

Stallcombe House spokesman Tom Roncarelli said: “The firefighters told everyone how to recognise dangers in the home and the residents were able to try on uniforms and sit inside the fire engine cabs, where they could watch fire safety films.

“It was an exciting evening, much enjoyed by all the residents, staff and firefighters.”
