The ‘active’ play equipment was paid for by funds raised by the Budleigh Salterton school’s PTFA.

New play equipment has been unveiled at St Peter’s Primary School in Budleigh Salterton.

The new kit was revealed in front of teachers, pupils and guests at the end of term.

St Peter’s PTA has raised the £14,000 for the equipment by holding a number of fundraisers through the year.

There was also grant aid from the town council and donations from the Norman Family Trust and Budleigh Lions Club.

The total was boosted by an abseil off Haytor, in Dartmoor, by teachers and parents.

The next fundraising challenge the school is working towards is to raise £55,000 for a new library, earmarked to open next month.

School leaders are trying to raise the cash to pay for vital repairs and refurbishment of a building on the Moor Lane site formerly used by Carousel Childcare.
