St Peter’s Preparatory School, Lympstone, is celebrating an ‘all-time high’ after 77 per cent of pupils in year eight landed scholarships to their senior school of choice.

This year’s achievement caps five years of rising success for the Harefield institution – the figure in 2013/14 was 56 per cent.

Of the scholarships awarded to the most recent set of year eights, the highest number were for sport, followed by academic, drama, all-round and art.

Headteacher Charlotte Johnston said: “In the last three years, pupils at St Peter’s have garnered more scholarships to Exeter School, Taunton School and Wellington School than anywhere else.

“However, our summer year eight leavers are also commencing year nine scholarships at Blundell’s, Clifton College, Sherborne School and The Maynard School. We are delighted that we are able to place so many of our children in such a wide variety of senior schools.”
