SPRING FLOWERS: Budleigh Salterton Flower Club is holding a demonstration on spring flowers.
It takes place at Knowle Village Hall on Monday (April 22) at 2pm. Admission costs £3, and new members are always welcome.
HOME OPPOSED: Plans to build a new home on land adjacent to The Old Smithy in Dalditch Lane have been opposed by Budleigh Salterton Town Council.
Councillors at this week’s town planning meeting said the scheme should not go ahead as it was on a flood plain, outside the built-up area boundary, and inside the area of outstanding natural beauty.
They also felt the building’s modern design would not be appropriate near the outskirts of the town.
Town mayor Courtney Richards said: “This is an ultra-modern building and I think it’s going to stand out a bit.”
East Devon District Council will make the final decision on planning permission.
