Our mayor s charity ball is now over. Thanks to Achilles, I am down at heel thus unable to pretend to dance, let alone walk distances.

Our mayor's charity ball is now over. Thanks to Achilles, I am down at heel thus unable to pretend to dance, let alone walk distances. But I hope that the ball this year was an exceptional success, even though tinged with sadness.Mayor Joy Whipps' term of office nears its end and so very many people in and around Exmouth will be saddened to bid farewell to such a delightful and inspiring lady. She brought cheerfulness and concern, dedication and determination to all that involved her. Surely Exmouth has never had so happy and welcoming a mayor? However, every cloud has a silver lining. With the local elections looming large, we shall have the chance to fill the town hall with true blue Tories. Furthermore, and even better, next year Brother Brown's ghastly term of ignominy will be over and after such a dismal and pathetic decade, as usual it will be the Conservatives who will have to pick up the pieces and govern us as we should be governed. So that is something to which to look forward. Meantime, thank you Joy for spreading your gladness. Anthony Robinson,222 Withycombe Village Road,Exmouth.
