A merger between two of Exmouth’s takeaway outlets has officially been launched this week.

Spice Lounge, in Prince of Wales Drive, closed its doors for the last time on Monday (October 15), and in the process re-located to a town centre location.

Both the now-closed Spice Lounge and Indian Ocean, in Exeter Road, are owned by the same family and, as of Monday (October 15), the town centre takeaway is the sole location for the business but will keep the same menu, chefs and even the telephone number.

Manager Alamgir Chowdhury said staff are looking forward to greeting familiar customers from Spice Lounge.

He said: “We’re really pleased to continue to be part of the Exmouth community.”

Alamgir also thanked all of the customers who have supported Spice Lounge over the years.

Earlier this year the Journal reported that Punch Taverns, which owns the land occupied by Spice Lounge, applied to demolish the restaurant to make way for a mix of homes but the application was withdrawn.
