The chance to buy a unique property in Littleham has come onto the market with the former public loos going up for sale.

You will have to spend more than a penny if you hope to snap up a unique property in Littleham, which has recently come on to the market.

The former public toilets and a surrounding small patch of land at Littleham Village went up for sale last week, with a guide price of £25,000.

Littleham residents had hoped the site could be secured for the locals for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations by using section 106 development money secured from the sale of Mundays Farm.

Many residents are concerned the area would be sold as development land.

East Devon District Council said the plot would not be considered for residential development.

One Littleham resident, who did not want to be identified, said: “Residents are aware that they have been closed this year, but we were hopeful that they might be reopened at some time in the future.

“We feel that this might be a good site for a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee seating area, where ramblers, holidaymakers and residents could take a rest and enjoy our village.

“I am hopeful that our councillors will achieve something and they seem to like the idea of the Diamond Jubilee area.”

Littleham councillor Alison Greenhalgh said a meeting was in the pipeline with the district council to discuss the future of the toilets.

Cllr Greenhalgh said: “We are going to have a little chat about what the possibilities are and what the best plan is.

“I think it will be up to the Littheham residents, what they would like there. It’s really early stages.”

The district council said if planning permission was granted on the plot, the premises, with running water and electricity, could be used for additional parking, or as a shop.

Residents hoping to save the loos for the village have until noon on December 15, when final offers must be submitted.

A district council spokesman said: “We are asking for offers with a guide price of £25,000 and we have received one offer so far.

“Subject to planning it could be used for retail, office, a workshop, etc.”

The two-cubicle building is located on the main road to the Devon Cliffs holiday park, central to Littleham Village.

The land area is a total of 1,862 sq ft – some 0.043 acres and will be sold freehold with vacant possession, subject to a claw back clause for any future development.
