CRIME: There were three burglaries or attempted burglaries in Budleigh Salterton in November. In Station Road a ladder was used to get through a first floor window. However there was a dog in the home which disturbed the intruder. In Moorhaven a stone garden gnome was taken from the garden and in Moormead entry was gained through an insecure window. Once inside numerous items were taken including computer equipment. POLICE: Between November 1 and November 27 there were 14 recorded crimes in Budleigh Salterton. During the same period there were 27 incident logs, four crime related, five categorised as ‘welfare concern’, eight road related and five ‘domestic’. There were also two incidents of anti-social behaviour and three ‘suspicious’.

LITTLE OTTERS’ LONGER HOURS: Little Otters’ Pre-School and Toddler Group, based at East Budleigh Village Hall, will be opening all day on a Wednesday from January next year. The new opening day will be additional to all-day opening on Monday and Friday and half-days on Tuesday and Thursday. There are still spaces available for a variety of pre-school sessions. BIGGER WINDOW: Town councillors have supported a bid to enlarge an existing window and form a new entrance porch at 4 Vales Road. Mayor Dick Mitchell said: “I don’t see a problem.” The plans will now be decided by district planners.

VILLAGE CRIME: A car parked in Dalditch Lane East Budleigh had its rear window smashed and items were stolen. On November 1, a mobile phone was taken after at Bicton College. NEW GARDEN: Town planners have backed changing land near 27 East Budleigh Road into a garden complete with garage, terraces and widening of vehicle access. District planners will make the final ruling.
