The first spa at a British holiday park is managing to avoid the worst effects of the credit crunch as hard-pressed mums -- and some dads -- continue to enjoy some luxury in their lives. The spa at Haven's flagship resort Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, Sandy Bay, reports business is buoyant despite fears pampering sessions could have been sent packing as family finances feel the pinch. Andy Rumsby, new manager of the £2.5 million centre, said bookings for treatments and to use the well-equipped gym and spa were holding up well."The holiday park is enjoying a good season, so that obviously helps," he said. "But we also get many local residents using the spa and we're pleased to say they are continuing to come."With six treatment rooms ,the well-equipped spa, which opened in 2004, offers a full range of top quality health and beauty treatments using products and bodycare from leading aroma-skincare specialist DecleorIt also has indoor and outdoor spa pool, sauna, steam room, bucket shower, monsoon shower and foot baths.Andy said back massages and facials remained the most popular treatments but the spa also offers nail art for young girls which was very popular.Andy, a 27 year-old graduate in Business Studies, has been with Haven for 10 years after starting on a summer season as a pool lifeguard at a holiday park in Lincolnshire where he grew up, and he has been at Devon Cliffs for two years. He was recently appointed manager of the spa and combines the duties with running the holiday park's five pools, all supplied by the park's own bore holes. This summer the spa is offering basic three-hour Spa Experiences for as little as £15 for local residents if booked and paid for in advance, or £10 for holidaymakers and caravan owners at Devon Cliffs.
