AIRBORNE half-pipe heroes thrilled the crowds, when East Devon s skaters converged on Phear Park for the annual Exmouth Skate Jam that organisers have hailed as a great success.

AIRBORNE half-pipe heroes thrilled the crowds, when East Devon's skaters converged on Phear Park for the annual Exmouth Skate Jam that organisers have hailed as a great success.

BMXers and skaters spent the afternoon and early evening performing aerial stunts and tricks on quarter pipes, handrails, benches and other obstacles, to the beats of a series of guest DJ's

Graffiti artists got the chance to brighten things up and showcase their talents on a special graffiti wall, while the best performers won prizes donated by the town's two sponsors, Tad Surf Shop and Exmouth Cycle Hire.

The event, which was partly paid for through a £500 Exmouth Town Council grant, was organised once again by Budleigh Salterton's Alex Warren.

The aim of the event was to show the council the popularity and positive nature of the skate park, how many young people rely on it, the need for improvements and the need for their continued financial support in the future.
