Single storey - less impact

I wish to voice my amazement at the possible approval of the plans for the Longboat Cafe in Budleigh Salterton. While I am not against an evening dining venue, I feel a single-storey building should be the only option on this beautiful coastline.

I wish to voice my amazement at the possible approval of the plans for the Longboat Cafe in Budleigh Salterton.

While I am not against an evening dining venue, I feel a single-storey building should be the only option on this beautiful coastline.

You only have to visit St Ives to see the Porthminster cafe to see how such a building can be very successful and unobtrusive.

The development of the new high buildings on Exmouth seafront should demonstrate how over-development has a tremendous impact on the skyline and visual impact as you look along the coast and down to the marina.

East Devon needs to get much stronger and insist that standards are maintained and the developers are not able to push through inappropriate designs for the area.

Also, any retrospective planning should involve demolishing buildings and not just doubling the planning fees.

Budleigh Resident.
