I would like to make myself known to the residents of the Exmouth marina apartments as a considerate, responsible and grateful user of the slipway at Shelly Beach. I have a small sail boat in which I am learning to sail so I can take my young family out when they get older. I do my best to respect other users on the beach and I park my car in one of the long-stay car parks rather than leaving it on the beach. I really sympathise with the locals, the local fishermen and families also wanting to use the beach. The noise and number of vehicles parked on the beach at weekends is crazy. If I was not able to launch my boat there, the nearest safe slipway suitable for my boat is Teignmouth. That would be a 45 minute drive for me. Why is it always the few who ruin it for all the others? Can anyone with authority - such as the coastguard or river police - talk to the people who park on the beach to get them to move on? Also, can they ask some boat users to respect the speed limit on the river so that families can paddle and swim in safety? Please do not just try and shut the slipway, but instead try to inform or educate people to do the right thing.Jamie Lord,11 Forge Close, Budleigh Salterton
