WHEN Budleigh Salterton woman Bron Henman lost a much-loved wedding ring belonging to her late mother-in-law, she feared she would never see the family heirloom again.

Mrs Henman thought she had lost the traditional-style gold ring while out shopping on October 19 - a date that was particularly poignant for her because it was the date which was also inscribed on the ring.

But Mrs Henman's prayers were answered when she discovered the ring among leaves which had blown into the garage of her West Hill home.

She now believes the ring fell off while she was emptying the tumble drier in the garage - and was hidden by a pile of leaves which blew in from outside.

Mrs Henman said: "I am so pleased I found it. It's got the sentimental message on the inside.

"The ring has been in my possession since 1979, and is inscribed with the initials DIJ and WH, and their marriage date, October 19, 1921.

"That date was also my mother's birthday, so the ring is of double sentimental value.
