A Colony home could be sub-divided into flats just three months after a previous attempt was rejected by a government planning inspector, who said it could cause parking chaos.

The owner of 15 Woodville Road is bidding to convert the home into two flats – previously an application to divide it into four flats was refused by district planners, and also on appeal in May.

Inspector Christopher Gethin said the subdivision of Colony homes ‘should be resisted’ and warned that the practice could cause parking chaos and resentment between neighbours.

He said: “Parking is a serious problem and, in these areas, proposals that would result in an unacceptable increase in on-street parking will be resisted.”

Planners will debate the application next Tuesday, with a final decision made by the district council.
