Reports a pensioner suffering with Alzheimer’s disease was missing in the Exmouth area on Tuesday night sparked a search and rescue mission from the coastguards.
Exmouth and Beer coastguards were tasked shortly before midnight to search for the missing man.
The emergency services stood down after the man was found in Exeter.
A Portland coastguard spokesperson said: “Exmouth and Beer Coastguard rescue teams responded to a report of a missing 66 year old male Alzheimer sufferer in the Exmouth area.
“Following an intensive search by coastguard and police search units, the male was located in Exeter.”
