A keen amateur photographer was in the right place at the right time to capture these shots of a solo seal enjoying itself off the East Devon coast.
Pete Adey, 73, snapped the cute mammal frolicking in the sea - and even having a laugh - while he was out walking between Brandy Head and Budleigh Salterton.
The retired electrician from Newton Poppleford, who has been taking photos for nearly 60 years, first thought he had spotted a log bobbing in the water.
The 73-year-old said: “I was there a good 20-30 minutes. He was swimming the water, bobbing up and down.”
“I have taken pictures of seals before, around Otterton and Ladram Bay. Very often they hole up on rocks, but it’s being in the right place at the right time.”

He said the seal was around 400 metres away in the water.
Pete added: “I was hoping a couple more might join him, but no such luck.”
