A BLUEPRINT to reshape Exmouth into a 21st century resort will now include the seafront following a call from the town council.
Residents have been giving their ideas as part of a masterplan being drawn up for Exmouth town centre.
In March town councillors at the Regneration and General Purposes Commitee said there was a lack of facilities for beach users and there was ‘no real vision or goal.’
Committee chairman and district councillor Pauline Stott said they need a ‘joined up’ approach.
And now the district council have risen to the task and again chosen local company, LDA Design, to prepare a masterplan this time for the seafront, adding to the work they are doing for the town centre.
Work on the town centre commenced in February and now review of the seafront and how it should develop to enhance enjoyment of Exmouth by locals and holidaymakers will start soon.
LDA Design will be talking to land-owners, lease-holders, key stakeholders and a number of Community organisations in the coming weeks.
Exmouth mayor and EDDC’s Exmouth Champion, Councillor Darryl Nicholas said: “The expansion of the area covered can only be a good thing, as it will mean more joined up thinking when it comes to encouraging or dealing with planning proposals. “The task will take a bit longer, but I’m sure the result will be well worth the wait”.
If youn have any ideas a workshop is being held on July 8. To attend call (01395) 517 416. Places are limited.
