PLANS to expand Topsham School, to create more space for the dance and drama departments, have been put forward to county planners. The school is appealing for a £200,000 extension to its site, which would be used for art and music rooms, and to further develop its work with parents by having extra space for its Family Learning Workshops.Head teacher Claire Browne said: "Gaining planning permission is the first step towards The Topsham School further extending the very rich curriculum it already provides for all its pupils."We want to...create purpose-built space for the delivery of sustainable education, build upon our very successful peripatetic provision and enhance our dance and drama curriculum with appropriate teaching space."The school is hoping to start construction work in the summer of next year and will begin its fundraising drive for the new classrooms once the application has been approved. The application will be considered by Devon County Council on Wednesday, October 15, and to date there have been no objections to the school's plans.
