Donations of old clothes were piled high at Withycombe Raleigh Primary School, raising hundreds of pounds.

The school’s PTFA appealed for donations of clothes, for which it would receive funding, and there was a huge response, with 690kg of items being donated, for which the PTFA received nearly £300.

The items were sent off to be delivered to Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Asia.

PTFA volunteer William Prendergast said: “We were really pleased. It’s a massive amount.

“It’s probably the most we have collected in the last two or three years we have been doing it.”

William added that following the success of the appeal, the school was now looking at installing a collection bin in the new year, allowing donations to be collected all year round.
