THE committee and friends of the Budleigh Salterton Flower and Produce Show Society were delighted with another successful show on Saturday, July 12, at the Public Hall. Like last year, the weather conditions proved difficult for gardeners, but entries were well up to their usual numbers. Displays of roses were outstanding in many cases, said the organisers. As in the previous two years, the show included a photographic competition in which entries were of a high standard and were much enjoyed by the visitors. The store cupboard classes also were well supported and of a very high standard. Show spokeswoman Sue Peters said the committee was particularly pleased with the number and quality of the vegetable entries. "We were very grateful to the Budleigh Salterton Flower Arranging Group which presented a floral decoration exhibition entitled 'Flower Arranging through the Ages' which was very popular with the many people who visited the show," she added. l The next spring flower and produce show will be held in the Public Hall on Saturday, March 28, 2009Results Flower Classes:Class 1, Pete Evans.
