An Exmouth woman will next week embark on a challenge of a lifetime, scaling Mount Kilamanjaro to raise cash for a children’s charity.

A BRIXINGTON woman is gearing up for a gruelling challenge of a lifetime when she scales the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Sarah Knight, 37, of Langstone Drive, will next month scale more than 19,000ft in a bid to raise 2500 for Sparks – a children’s medical charity.

Recruitment agency managing director Sarah has been pounding up and down Exmouth’s sand dunes as part of her training for the four-and-a-half-day trek to the summit.

Determined to make it to the top, she has enlisted the help of Peter Hardy, of South West Military Fitness, to put her through her paces.

Sarah, who is considering attempting a half marathon as her next challenge, said she hoped altitude sickness would not prevent her from reaching the top.

She said: “Watching the sun come up at the top will be the most amazing feeling.”

Trainer Mr Hardy said: “She’s been totally committed. I have been very proud of her.”

Sarah thanked her sponsors, pictured here, Nick Sutcliffe, from the Mexican restaurant, on The Parade, Simon Farmer from Waterman Brown accountants and Peter Hardy, of South West Military Fitness, for all their help and support.
