The Salvation Army is appealing for Christmas presents for families who are struggling to buy gifts for their children this year.
Kind-hearted residents in Exmouth are being asked to donate an unused toy so that there is a surprise under the Christmas tree from families who have fallen on hard times.
Anyone who wants to give a child something to open on Christmas Day can take their items for youngsters up to the age of 16 to their Sheppard’s Row base between 10am and noon until Friday, December 7.
Major Stephen White, divisional leader of The Salvation Army’s Devon and Cornwall division said: “It’s wonderful to see children’s faces light up when they open their presents on Christmas morning, but during the festive season, when many are enjoying celebrations with friends and family, others are struggling to make ends meet.
“We’re asking for brand-new, unwrapped toys or gifts so the families we support and their children feel extra special on Christmas day.”
