FORMER mayor Trevor Cope is again competing in the London Marathon - and is appealing for sponsorship.As part of his preparations, on Sunday he competed in the Bideford Half-marathon.It was his 226th half-marathon - finishing in two hours two minutes and 25 seconds - and this year he will be running for the medical charity Merlin.Trevor said: "Merlin is a charity which is very close to my heart."Merlin is presently working with civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel and Palestine, West Bank and Gaza."After wars, these countries tend to lose a lot of their infrastructure and Merlin goes in and helps with the medical work and the rebuilding of the hospital infrastructures."If you feel you could spare a few pence for this just cause, please contact me."Trevor can be contacted at: trevor.cope@talk21.com or by telephone (01395) 270128.
