AN arduous year on the road has seen marathon man Dan Wilson break the 26-mile barrier no fewer than 26 times in aid of his Exmouth dad, a Parkinson's sufferer.Twenty-five-year-old Dan laced up his shoes for an A-Z of marathons in 2007, jogging more than a million metres to raise funds for charity in honour of his father. Now living in Bristol, Dan was supported on his travels by mum and dad Elaine and Richard, of Cypress Road. Mr Wilson was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the late '90s - and a series of fundraising runs undertaken by Dan sparked the idea for last year's big adventure.Dan said: "When Dad was first diagnosed I ran some half-marathons, and later a friend suggested the A-Z."I think at first I hadn't really thought it all through, and there were loads of times that I wondered what I was doing, but I had so much support."A final run between Exmouth and Exeter meant Dan completed. So far he has raised more than £10,000 for charity.Check out next week's Journal for the full story and pictures behind Dan's amazing year.
