Members of East Devon’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) last week held their annual Christmas get together at Exmouth’s Imperial Hotel.

Exmouth RSVP Knit and Chat group organiser Sandra Witts reported on a successful year for her 30-strong group.

East Devon RSVP organiser Howard Witts said: “Sadly, less than half the members were able to attend, but a good time was had by all present.

“The group were able to meet new members, chat about their volunteering experience, mainly helping children in schools improve their reading ability and talk about the future of volunteering.”

The members also heard how RSVP was a December appeal in a national newspaper, leading to a boost in membership enquiries.

The East Devon group reported eight new enquiries this month and hoped to increase the number of school volunteers to 50 within the next month.
