A Budleigh Salterton-based home care provider has received royal recognition, having won a Princess Royal Training Award for 2016.

Home Instead Senior Care is one of only 34 UK businesses nationally to have achieved the Princess Royal Training Award’s standard of excellence in training.

Mark McGlade, managing director of Home Instead Senior Care for Exeter and East Devon, said: “We were the only care provider in the country to win the award, but this year’s group of winners includes some of the biggest brands in the world.

“It’s great to see Home Instead on the same gold medal podium with other market leaders such as Mercedes Benz and IBM.

“We’re pleased to have won the Princess Royal Training Award as we firmly believe that we can only deliver the best care if we have the best trained care givers.

“We’re convinced that dementia awareness can really improve the lives of people living with the condition, which is why we run free courses for family, friends and other people in the community.”
