members of the Rotary Club of Exmouth helped their friends in the Rotary Club of Otter Valley, following the devastation caused by the recent freak storm. There have been many thanks to those members for the exemplary way in which they have responded. Frank Venn, of the Rotary Club, said: "For those whose homes and property were affected by the water, mud and sewage effluent, there can be no more welcome sight than a band of willing volunteers prepared to help in their moment of crisis."Rotarians often become blase about our Rotary motto "Service above Self" but East Devon Rotary Club members, in partnership, demonstrated that for many Rotarians it is a statement of fact. "Not only did they serve the local community immediately after the event but they continued to provide help when and where it was needed. "There is much pride in this fantastic example of community service.
