West Hill and Exmouth Road, in Budleigh Salterton, was closed for three days to enable the county council’s highways department to fell a ‘dangerous’ tree.
Town councillor Lynda Evans had reported her concern to county councillor Christine Channon because buses were having difficulty with the over-hanging branches.
At the end of November and the start of December the road was closed and contractors felled one tree and cut back the branches on several others that were causing a problem.
County councillor Christine Channon at the Budleigh Salterton town council meeting said: “Councillor Evans pointed this out to me that several trees were over hanging.
“A large Scots pine and several others owned by Devon County Council have been affecting double-decker buses going up the hill.
“I am very grateful to Councillor Evans.”
